Yong Mausoleum (Yong Ling) is situated on Fuqin Dong Road in Chengdu. It houses the burial of Emperor Wang Jian. The capital of the former Shu Dynasty was Chengdu and made by Wang Jian. The city was then the the most governable and powerful among the Five Dynasties and Ten States.
The Mausoleum is very different from similar structures since it has built right in the city and is also accessible from the ground level. It has a circular base that measures 80 meters and stands at a height of 15 meters. There are 14 archways made of grey bricks. The largest brick measures 27x17x7 inches and holds the size record for buildings above the ground. The Mausoleum is an important Chinese architecture.
The burial chamber is partitioned by wooden doors into three parts. The coffin rests on a 
coffin bed in the middle chamber. On three sides of the bed, you will find murals of 24 musicians with regional instruments craved into stones. These are the only known court musical band images unearthed from the Tang Dynasty period. A stone statue of Wang Jian stands on the bed in the back chamber with all his royal splendour. The bed itself is embossed with two dragons playing with a ball on the facet, and with lions on each side. It is considered to be the most exquisite and valuable of its kind.
Yong Mausoleum in Chengdu has been raided by grave thieves time and again over the years. Archeological excavators however have later found enough to tell the story of the times.
The tea park at the Yong Mausoleum Museum is well renowned in the city of Chengdu. You will also able to enjoy the Shu Palace musical performance. An entry fee of CNY 30 is charged from visitors. The Mausoleum remains open from 8AM till 4:50PM.
