Located below Fuhu Mountain, the monastery had become well known even in the Tang Dynasty.During the Ming Dynasty its name was Hu Xi Chan Ling. which means the Tiger Stream and Buddhist Forest.Towards the end of the Ming, the monastery was destroyed by the disaters of a war. In 1651,Guan Zhi,a buddhist monk, reconstructed the monastery on the same site.It took 2o years to complete, and it remains as the largest monastery in the mountain , but called by another name,Hu Xi Jing She. Literally,it means“the Tiger Stream and House of Essence”.Fuhu Monastery stands about 1km to the right of the of the Phoenix Pavilion outside the Baoguo Monastery. On the way one passes a wooden signboard tower built in Qing Dynasty and called“Fuhu Monastery”. You maycross three bridges before entering Bu Jing Forest.

In the mid 16 century, one of Guangyi's disciples by the name of Sun Ji. You must cross three bridges before entering Bu Jing Forest had the grand aspiration of chanting the entire Mahayana Scripture. He made it a practice to plant one tree for each character of scripture sung.

Consequently, he planted as many as 195,048 nan mu and pine trees around the monastery.By the good care of other monks, they all grew into the surrounding forest. There is a memorial archway in the forest, with a horizontal inscription board, reading“Bujing Forest”.Based on Buddhist documents,Bujing means that this is Buddhist soil and its land is golden.

Behind the entrance gate stand the Heavenly Kings' Hall,Puxian Hall, and then the Great Buddha Hall. The Grand Buddha Hall is commonly called Nanmu Hall.It is made of nanmu trees and covers a construction space of about 1,000 aquare meters.

The hall is regarded as the largest on the mountaun. All the buildings of the largest on the mountain. All the buildings of the monawstery are integrated and interwined with the live trees of the forest, but it is incredible that fallen branches and withered leaves disintegrate and never remain on the roofs of the buildings the year round. Upon hearing of this,Qing Emperor Kangxi gasped in admiration at wonder of lt.He wrote an inscription,Li Gou Yuan, which means literally,“No_dust Yard”. Today ,the inscribed board still hands on the entrance of Puxian Hall.In the Grand Buddha Hall,Sakyamuni's three Buddhist images are worshiped .To the left of the hall are Arhats Hall and Huayan Coper Pagoda. The latter was set up here in 1982.The pagoda was cast in copper in 1342 and was originally set up in Shengji Monastery. The pagoda is 5.8m high and has 7 sides and 14 stories. Its surface is covered  with Huayan Scripture and 4,700 Buddhist figure images. Flowing down to the pavilion is Huquan Stream. Beside the stream grow spiulose tree ferns, which are a living fossile dating back to even before the prehistoric age, during the dinosaur period.

Outside the entrance gate of Huhu Monastery is Shanjue Monastery, which was built in 1571. In 1702,YuanXiang,a monk from Shanjue Monastery received an imperial order, and he went to the imperial court to preach Buddhism. Qing Emperor Kangxi, bestowed an inscription on the monastery, which reads,“Dragon_House Shanjue Monastery.” Close to the monastery is the Phoenix Terrance, the ruins of Daoist culture. It is said that on this terrance Xuan Yuan Emperor learned Daoism from an immortal. There once were 305 rooms on the terrace, including
the Daoism Instruction Platform, Daoist Discipline Hall, and many secluded rooms.

Leaving Fuhu Monastery, you can pass over Yushu and Jietuo Bridge, and then climbs up the Jietuo Slope before arriving at Leiyin Monastery. In the monastery Guanyin Hall is dedicated to the Thousand _Hand_and _Eye Guanyin(Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva). On the entire mountain this is the one and only wooden Buddha figure statue in existence, exquisitely engraved on polar. Countless visitors stream to this site to worship, because it is said that wooden statue of Guanyin will respond to every plea. From Leiyin Monastery one hikes up to Huayan Monastery, one of the monasteries inthe mountain.

Half a kilometer to the right of Fuhu Monastery is Luofeng Peak Nunnery.Behind it is the pagoda forest where a number of eminent monks were buried. The top of the Luofeng Peak is flat, like the floor of a stage, where aged pines have twisted roots and gnarled branches and white cranes fly about among trees.Down below the peak is a deep and quite vally, blanketed by dark nan mu trees. From the top of Luofeng  Peak is an ideal site to view Emei plains. It also offters Sunny Clouds over the Peak, perennially one of Emei Best attractions.
